Zanjeer Won't be Postponed Anymore

Zanjeer has been in news ever since its inception last year. Though not all reasons may have been too flattering considering the fact that there were legal issues plaguing the film, there was something for the makers to cheer about once it got clearance for release. Soon after, promos of the Hindi as well as Telugu version were on air pronto as well.

However, Latest developments makes one Wonder if there is yet another postponement in the making, what with one reason each arising due to recent developments in the Hindi as well as Telugu film industry.

Reason being that Yevadu, a much awaited Telugu film Starring Ram Charan Teja, is moving ahead by three weeks and would now be coming only on August 21. Now that would be cutting too fine with Zanjeer, the release date of which has been announced as September 6. Other than just the Hindi version, Ram would also have to think about the Telugu version of Zanjeer, Thoofan.

Moreover, on the Hindi front, an early release of Yash Raj's Shuddh Desi Romance has brought Zanjeer in direct competition with the Sushant Singh-Parineeti Chopra starrer, something that could lead to a rethinking of sorts.

However, Apoorva Lakhia, the Director of Zanjeer, is sure that there won't be any change in plans.

When contacted, he said, "I can only talk about my film and what the rest of the world does is not in my hands. This week as many as 12 films released all over India. It's impossible for any film to get a single release unless its features the big four or five actors. Zanjeer is definitely arriving on September 6. There won't be any shifting for anything or anyone."

Considering the fact that the film was originally touted to arrive on March this year, Apoorva's defiant stand on the eventual plans for Zanjeer look justifiable for sure. One wonders though how is Ram responding to the twist in the tale, now that he would also have to practically promote three of his films, Yevadu, Thoofan and Zanjeer.

Mercedes-Benz Launches E63 AMG at Rs. 1.29 Crore

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India further consolidated its product offensive for the Indian market by launching the dynamic and efficient performance car E 63 AMG, at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. The comprehensively modernized E 63 AMG provides perfect combination of jaw-dropping performance and low fuel consumption with its new efficient engine. The new E 63 AMG was launched by Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Mr. Eberhard Kern commented on the launch of the new E 63 AMG, “The E 63 AMG Combines the attributes of a sports car with the practicality of a luxury sedan. The stunning new design idiom is in line with the new AMG design philosophy. The connoisseurs of Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles will now experience the performance and driving dynamics of the E 63 AMG more with the broader scope of standard equipment and appointments. The new E 63 AMG continues to be the pinnacle of technical prowess with added power and enhanced performance making it a practical super car. With the launch of the new E 63 AMG Mercedes-Benz India reiterates the philosophy of Best or Nothing for its customers.”

The E 63 AMG presents the new AMG Design Philosophy. Predominant elements are the AMG "twin blade" radiator grille in silver chrome and the so-called "A-wing". The new, Three-Dimensional air deflector spans the entire width of the AMG front apron, presenting the stylized "A" which is a hallmark of AMG vehicles. The "A-wing" painted in the car's exterior colour with a trim strip in silver chrome provides the backdrop for three large cooling air intake openings. On the side air intakes, black flics provide for an ideal inflow of air into the cooling modules, while at the bottom a front splitter painted in the car's exterior colour helps to reduce lift. Convex and concave surfaces dynamically combine the new front end of the E 63 AMG featuring a sculptural design with the distinctive flared wings on which "V8 BITURBO" lettering alludes to the superior engine power on board. The striking air outlet openings at the sides, the black grille and the two sets of twin chrome tailpipes belonging to the AMG Sports exhaust system lend the rear an impression of width. The black diffuser insert with pronounced fins provides the E 63 AMG with a powerful touch of Race Track Atmosphere at the rear.

The new E 63 AMG is unrivalled in this segment with its variety and innovations. The vehicle is equipped with the AMG 5.5-litre V8 BITURBO engine with a displacement of 5461 cc, the eight-cylinder engine develops a peak output of 410 kW (557 hp) @5500 rpm and a torque of 720 Nm @ 1750-5250. E 63 AMG also achieves exceptional performance: acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes merely 4.2 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited). The new E 63 AMG features an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission.

The transmission modes “C” (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport plus) and "M" (Manual) enhance the car's agility and driving dynamics quite noticeably. Race Start function ensures shorter response times, higher engine speeds and more spontaneous gear changes, demonstrating the full potential of the new AMG V8 BITURBO engine. In S, S+ and M modes, not only is the stop/start function deactivated but, at full load, the engine management system partially suppresses the cylinders. This carefully managed interruption to ignition and injection results in faster gear changes and an emotive acoustic effect. The automatic double-declutching function in reverse gear provides the perfect complement.

The AMG 5.5-litre V8 BITURBO engine, the company claims, is the most efficient series production V8 engine around. The fuel consumption confirms its credentials: running on 9.8 litres per 100 kilometres. The new E 63 AMG demonstrates in impressive fashion how fascinating dynamics and low fuel consumption can be combined to perfection. A major contribution to the car's exemplary reduction in fuel Consumption figures is also made by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-Speed Sports transmission.

The AMG Exterior Carbon-Fibre package adds a sporting flair to the new E 63 AMG. Highlights of AMG Exterior Carbon-Fibre Package include the A-wing of the AMG front apron, inlays in the AMG side skirts, and the carbon-finish top section of the AMG rear apron. This package further enhances the dynamic appeal offering an effective contrast to the vehicle paint finish.

The dynamic exclusive atmosphere inside the car is accentuated by the Nappa leather upholstery.  The black interior of the E 63 AMG features grey contrasting topstitching on the AMG sports seats, the door centre panels, the door armrests and the centre console. Silver seat belts are also part of this standard interior. The rim of the AMG Performance Steering wheel in black Nappa leather is flattened at the top and bottom and Boasts grip areas in Alcantara® and grey contrasting stitching. The front head restraints of the AMG sports seats incorporate exclusive Embossed AMG Emblems.

Safety has always been a Priority for Mercedes-Benz which is very well established with the 8 Airbags equipped in the new E 63 AMG. There is an adaptive dual stage airbags for driver and front passenger, side impact air-bags for driver and front passenger and window airbags.

The price of the new E 63 AMG is Rs. 12,900,000 ex-Showroom Delhi.

Missing From Bollywood

Mumbai is a City of Arrivals and Departures; Everyone Comes here with the idea of arriving, no one leaves. As a result, we’ve created for your pleasure Missing, a chronicle of stars who fell off the map one fine day after enjoying some serious exposure in the world of popular culture.

Missing will be our daily tribute to heroes, some zeroes, heroines, vamps, villains, Indipop singers, models who pretended like they could act, zombied divas who could shake a leg or two when the need arose – a Cavalcade of folks who are guaranteed to thrill you.
Do have a blast with our Blast from the Past.

Rimi Sen:
We don't blame you if you confused her with the other Rimis, Reemas, Raimas of Bollywood. born as Shubhomitra Sen she changed her name to Rimi Sen after she was first spotted in a Coca-Cola ad with Aamir Khan and instantly offers started pouring in. She made her Bollywood debut in 2003 in Vijay Galani's Hungama and followed it with 'Dhoom', 'Garam Masala' and 'Golmaal'. Her streak of luck continued with films like 'Dhoom 2', 'Johnny Gaddaar', 'De Taali' . Thereafter, she vanished from the silver screen. She was last seen in 'Shagrid'.

Anjala Zaveri:
Best known for the song 'Teri Jawani badi mast mast hai', Anjala Zaveri caught the attention of actor Vinod Khanna who signed her up to act in his son Akshaye Khanna’s debut Himalayputra. Her second movie in Bollywood was Betaabi after which she switched to South Indian cinema when her Bollywood career failed to take off. But it was Sohail Khan's 'Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya' which is her best role till date. She worked with all major heroes down South like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh.

Bollywood happened to Koena Mitra after she won the Gladrags Mega Model India in 2003 and performed on an item song in Ram Gopal's Varma Road. But it was Sanjay Gupta's Musafir in 2004 brought her to the people’s notice. After few films like ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’, ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, a disastrous decision of getting a nose job done changed her life. It not only botched up her face but also her career. She was last seen in the ‘Story of Naomi’ where she plays a bisexual.

Kim Sharma:
Kim was more in news for real life romances than her reel-life ones. She shot to fame with commercials like Sunsilk, Pepsi, Cadbury etc and caught director Aditya Chopra’s eye who casted her in ‘mohabattein’. Though the film was a box-office success, it failed to set sail to her filmi career. Her liason with cricketer Yuvraj Singh helped her remain in the limelight for sometime and after the controversial break up, her brand value dipped.
After Couple of duds including kudiyon Ka Zamana, Nehle Pe Dehla etc, she finally bid adieu to the industry by marrying NRI businessman from Kenya. She was last seen in Govinda starrer ‘Loot’.

Negar Khan:
Her sole claim to fame (and infame) is the re-mixed version of 'Chadti Jawaani'. Born to an Iranian father and Norwegian mother, Negar Khan did blink and miss roles in films like 'Rudraaksh' and 'Shaadi Ka Laddoo' before she was deported back to Norway for forging her documents for work visa. In between, She was married to 'Style' actor Sahil Khan.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar:
Sadashiv Amrapurkar's role as a eunuch Maharani 1991 film 'Sadak' earned him a seat in the Bollywood hall of baddies. Born to an autodriver in 1956, Amrapurkar ventured into acting with Marathi film 'Aamras' and went on to do minor roles in Marathi cinema.
His first brush with Bollywood was in the critically acclaimed film 'Ardh Satya' in 1983 where he played the role of the notrious don Rama Shetty. After playing a Villian for almost a decade, he switched to supporting and comic roles in films like 'Aankhen', 'Ishq', 'Gupt.' He was last seen in 'Mr White Mr Black' in 2008.

After being crowned Miss India in 1993, Namrata Shirodkar forayed into Bollywood with the Salman Starrer ‘Jab Pyaar Kissi Se Hota Hai’. Thereafter, she continued doing films and won several accolades for ‘Vastav’ opposite Sanjay Dutt. After that she was cast in many Films as a supporting actor. In 2005, She gave up her career when she married Tollywood star, Mahesh Babu and has since settled in Hyderabad. If you miss seeing her groova ala 'Sunta Hai Mera Khuda',
