Google's Showcases Self-Driving Car, Roams without Steering Wheel or Driver's Seat

Google has Showcased its ability to build a new car, which it sent rolling on the streets. Google announced its latest innovation with its self-driving car that has no seat for a driver or a steering wheel.

Sergey Brin, CEO Google unveiled this new prototype that comes with only two seats, and runs on a technology dependent on built-in sensors, lasers, camera data and a software system that will navigate the vehicle safely.

The car has no brake pedals, accelerator or steering wheel. This was revealed during an interview at Recode Code Conference in Palos Verdes, Calif. This two-seater has a snubbed smiley face front, which is made out of a soft foam-like material with its windshields made out of plastic instead of the regular glass. This will help lessen the damage to both passengers and pedestrians in the case of an accident. This car is an extension to the company's driverless car project.

Google wanted to make self-driving cars safer than the ones driven by humans and that was the company's role, Brin said.

Though there were no crashes during its testing phase, the car can only be driven at a Speed of 25 miles per hour, increasing the reaction time in case of an accident. The car is designed in such a way, that there is no human interference in Driving the Vehicle.

During its designing Process, Google prioritized on the safety feature of the vehicle, Chris Urmson, director of Self-Driving Car Project said in a post on the official blog. He underlined that the sensors of the car "can detect objects out to a distance of more than two football fields in all directions" and it is helpful in tackling the intersection of roads or busy streets.

Though the car is not designed for luxury, it certainly has the necessary things that a car must have to house passengers - two seats with Seatbelts, space for belongings, start and stop buttons and a screen showing the car's route. "We're planning to build about a hundred prototype vehicles, and later this summer, our Safety Drivers will start testing early versions of these vehicles that have manual controls," added Urmson.

He Promised that by 2017, the Company will have kick-started a small pilot program in California that will allow these self-driving cars on the main streets. He also said that the company was open to work with partners in order to bring this technology to the world. The car has already logged in 700,000 miles of public roads in autonomous mode.

Sharing his excitement Urmson noted: "We're really excited about this vehicle - it's something that will allow us to really push the capabilities of self driving technology, and understand the limitations," BBC reported.

Currently only three states in U.S. allow operation of autonomous cars that includes Nevada, Florida and California, but apart from Nevada, other two have given the green signal only for the testing of such vehicles. The autonomous car project is also been envisioned by other auto industry majors like Nissan, General Motors, Continental, Ford Motor Co and Tesla, CNET reported. Supporters of such types of cars explain that they are not only safer but will lessen pollution and revolutionize transport industry.

Gold Prices May Decline to Rs. 24,000 by Diwali: Industry Body

Gold Prices May Decline to Rs. 24,000 by Diwali
Following the easing of 20:80 Gold import norms by the Reserve Bank, India Bullion & Jewellers Association (IBJA) on Thursday said gold prices are likely to fall to Rs. 23,000-24,000 per 10 grams by Diwali as it also expects the customs duty reduction in the forthcoming budget.

"RBI's easing of 20:80 gold import norms is positive for the gems and jewellery industry. We expect this will be followed by reduction of the Customs duty to 4-5 per cent from the current 10 per cent in the forthcoming Budget, resulting in declining of gold prices and (Price) is likely to be at Rs. 23,000-24,000 by Diwali," IBJA president Mohit Khamboj told reporters in Mumbai.

The Yellow Metal is likely to be on par with the global prices as the premiums will also go down due to the positive steps taken by the governmet, he said.

"It will also reduce the gold inflow through the grey market."

The RBI on Wednesday eased gold import norms by allowing select trading houses, in addition to some banks, to procure the precious metal to boost exports.

In July last year, the apex bank had imposed severe restrictions on gold imports to check burgeoning current account deficit and Depreciating Rupee.

Under the 20:80 Scheme, an importer has to ensure that at least one-fifth, or 20 per cent, of every lot of imported gold is exclusively made available for the purpose of exports and the balance for domestic use.

Meanwhile, gold prices in the spot market dropped by Rs. 800, or nearly 3 per cent, to Rs. 28,100 per 10 grams on Thursday - its lowest level since August.

Car Review: The Jaguar C-X17 Stretches the Design Possibilities of the Segment with a Five-Seater Format

The Jaguar C-X17 Combines the character and Driving experience of a sports car with increased Presence, style and flexibility. A five-seater sports crossover concept built on the aluminium-intensive architecture, the C-X17 blends sleek lines, sporting performance and sophistication with enhanced practicality. Having made its debut at Auto Guangzhou 2013, the C-X17 is every inch a Jaguar. The Revised C-X17, developed for China, has a luxurious, spacious and innovative cabin featuring bespoke, high-quality, traditionally British-inspired interior finishes and materials. The seats are lightweight units with a sculpted free-standing appearance, visually enhancing the airiness of the cabin.

The sense of openness inside the cabin is heightened by the C-X17’s unique panoramic roof, constructed from a series of sculpted vanes running from front to rear, closely arranged in parallel and integrated into the header and cant rails. They are contoured on the lower side to generate extra headroom, and shaped to create a ring of space that enables a whole-roof view of the sky above, giving the occupants a sense of openness. The topside of the vanes follows the smooth profile of the glass roof, maintaining the sleek exterior lines of the C-X17.

Interior finish
The C-X17’s interior door finish is a waxed Clay Walnut wood veneer. For the interior metal finishes, ruthenium is used instead of bright work, creating a darker, more tonal effect that suits the subtle, premium feel of the cabin, and the top surface panels of the interactive surface console are laser-etched with a brogue-inspired pattern.

Unique features
The C-X17 has an interactive surface console that runs the length of the car’s centre tunnel. Made up of a series of interconnecting touch screens encased in transparent acrylic glass, it connects those in the rear cabin with the driver and front seat passengers via a secure in-car Wi-Fi network. It allows the vehicle occupants to upload pictures, video and sound files from their mobile devices and share them with fellow passengers, as well as on social media channels. It features rear exit detection, which uses sensors to warn exiting passengers of quickly-approaching hazards, such as cyclists and mopeds. The instrument panel has a twin-dial configurable TFT console with provision for a head up display – a system which projects vital information onto the windscreen for the driver to process quickly, akin to the systems used in modern fighter aircraft.

The profile
The C-X17’s low profile and large wheels give it a powerful, planted stance. The long bonnet’s twin ‘power bulges’ and prominent grille impart a muscular look. The headlamps hint at the C-X17’s sedan siblings while the grille is inspired by the XJ, resulting in a distinctive family look that is reassuringly familiar yet uniquely appealing.

The C-X17’s twin ‘heartlines’ are clearly visible when viewed in profile. The accentuated length of the windows adds to the vehicle’s overall sense of sleekness.

The rear of the vehicle has a distinctive touch of sports car about it, with the haunch, taillights and detailing all bringing to mind the Jaguar F-Type.

The Roofline swoops quickly rearwards, culminating in a distinctive cantilevered spoiler over a steeply raked rear window that clearly enhances the crossover’s sporting, ‘fast-even-at-standstill’ appearance.

The first Jaguar to be Delivered from the new architecture will be a new mid-size (C/D) segment premium sedan, which will be rolled-out globally from 2015.

Car Review: Audi RS5

Fast Facts

Engine Cylinders: V8
Displacement (cc) : 4163
Engine : 4.5 FSI
Power : 450PS @ 8250rpm
Torque : 430Nm @ 4000-6000rpm
Transmission Drive Type : AWD
Gearbox : 7-speed
Transmission : Automatic Acceleration 0-100
km/h : 4.5 0-60
km/h : NA

Top Speed : 250

The Audi RS5 comes across as a vehicle with all the right traits of a sports car combined with the practicality of a machine that can be used on a Daily basis. The collective characteristics work their magic to offer an exhilarating drive experience.

On Paper it is easy to doubt the intentions of the all new Audi RS5; even more so in a market like India where the practicality of such a vehicle Doesn’t immediately come across.
We still don’t have the roads or the right kind of drivers to handle a brute vehicle such as this, however it is these preconceived notions that proved to be my biggest folly when it came to judging the RS5. It is still a brute, but it has the right pedigree and that goes a long way in making the car suitable for two entirely different driving scenarios.

As for the looks department, the RS5 doesn’t have much to boast about over its predecessor and it retains that subtle aggression combined with the regular Audi family look.
Don’t misinterpret that to mean anything else, for the car is a head turner for sure and we got a taste of that while trying to do the shoot on a busy road where just about everyone stopped to pull out their camera and take a click as well! After all, those taunt lines in the sheet metal, squinted headlights fitted with awesome looking LEDs, large air intakes, low front bumper, dual exhaust pipes and the rear diffuser are not to be missed. Bringing the entire package together are the large 19 inch smoked grey alloys shod with a sliver of 265/35 R19 rubber. The exquisite paint job in electric blue added to the visual treat and it is worthy to note that the new RS5’s body is 20mm lower than its Predecessor which adds to its squat wide stance and has a significant impact on the aggressive profile that the car boasts of.

Having said that, all is forgotten once you hear the engine roar to life and you can’t help but smile while quickly checking yourself out in the rear view mirror in a bid to truly confirm that you are in fact in the driver’s seat of this tuxedo clad brute. It is about this time that your mind’s eye gets filled with visions of a long winding road, blurry landscape and the solid growl of the engine as the only soundtrack to this moment.
Just knowing what exists under the hood is enough to get you daydreaming as such but the real treat obviously lies in actually unleashing the full potential of the engine.Opening the frameless door and sliding into the driver’s seat, you just can’t help feeling a little wicked.

Yes, there is a monstrous engine under the long hood, but before you get to firing it up, it is highly recommended that to take a minute to soak in the aesthetics of the interiors.
From the leather wrapped steering wheel to the brushed aluminum ‘quattro’ on the dash, everything boasts of fine quality. Add to that a host of gizmos and gadgetry such as the now standard Audi MMI system, large screen display and numerous buttons to Control a host of features. What is genuinely missing however is a large red START/STOP button, which would have worked well with a car such as this, while instead you have to just press the key fob in its slot to get the engine to roar to life.
A bit of a letdown, but hopefully Audi will grant my wish in the next model upgrade.
On the space front, the RS5 offers generous electronically adjustable front seats, however the rear seats are a squeeze and best left for little kids. One can’t really complain about the fact considering the RS5 is essentially a sports coupe destined for two passengers and some luggage at best.

What you essentially get is a 4163cc V8 FSI petrol engine that is capable of churning out 450 hp @ 8250 rpm and a solid torque of 430Nm between 4000-6000 rpm. Mated to a 7-speed S tronic gearbox that offers gear change times of just a few hundredths of a second, the RS5 is capable of going from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and is regulated to touch 250km/h. I am sure that an ungoverned version is capable of going much faster, but that shall remain a thought to fuel my dreams. The sheer brilliance however lies in the manner in which you can tap into all that power.
If you so choose to, the RS5 will putter along at low two digit speeds with ease, making it very easy to drive in traffic and when the open road beckons, all you have to do is prod the gas a bit and she just surges forward like a jet powering up for takeoff. What’s more? Well, the driving is further influenced by the paddle shifters on the steering wheel which not only allow you to control the shifts but also adds its two bits to the overall drive experience that the RS5 offers, and did I mention the term ‘launch control’? That’s right, in order to limit tyre slip and offer the best possible traction while accelerating from standstill the RS5 comes fitted with the launch control program which is a delight to employ, however it is important to note that this isn’t a feature for daily driving.

Now all that power would be useless without the right equipment to support it. In doing so, Audi has ensured that the RS5 comes packed to the hilt on that front as well.
Starting with the quattro all-wheel-drive, you also get a self-locking crown gear center differential, torque vectoring and the standard ABS, ESP and EBD.
All these systems ensure that you stay planted on the road and have maximum control at all times while enjoying the sheer drive dynamics that this coupe offers. In fact the crown gear center differential is capable of varying the torque between the front and rear axles with up to 75 per cent flowing to the front or up to 85 per cent to the rear if necessary. Under normal driving circumstances, it maintains a 40:60 ratio in order to offer a rear-biased configuration to add to the sporty handling. Audi has given the car the works in making sure that it comes to stop in minimal time as well. Utilizing large ventilated petal disc brakes on all four wheels, each unit employs steel friction rings which are perforated and connected to the aluminum brake caps via pins. The front calipers have eight pistons each and in layman terms all this translates to the fact that the RS5 can stop on a dime.

Further to this, The RS5 comes standard with the driver select driving dynamics system which allows you to choose between comfort, auto and dynamic modes which immediately impact the characteristics of the steering, gearbox, accelerator and exhaust system. Further to this, Audi offers a sport differential and dynamic steering as optional extras if the customer wishes to opt for them.
Regardless, the driver select dynamics system changes this car around from a laid back coupe offering a rather comfortable ride in the city to a scorcher with precision inputs on the highway. What really proved to be a revelation was a stint in Mumbai traffic where the comfort mode made a lot of sense and I was amazed at the ride quality, despite the ultra-low profile tyres.
Once back on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, it was back to dynamic mode and unleashing those horses under the hood!
Cross 120 km/h and the rear spoiler automatically pops up to do its business and contribute to the overall drive dynamics of the car.

Overall, the RS5 is an absolute delight to drive and you really can’t get enough of unleashing all that power whenever the chance presents itself. It also has a practical twist to its otherwise sports oriented package and this according to me is the RS5’s winning attribute for it caters to more than just one need. Simply put, this car brings the joys of motoring to the fore.

IPL 7: AB de Villiers, Yuvraj Blitz Keeps Bangalore in Fray for Playoffs

Royal Challengers Bangalore made a Stunning late flourish after initial struggle with A B de Villiers playing a cameo of 14-ball 28 to pull off a five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling IPL match here today..

Chasing 139 for a Win, Bangalore found the going tough with the Chennai slow bowlers seemingly tying them into knots in the first half of their innings before exploding towards the end to overhaul the target with one ball to spare in a low-scoring match that went down the wire.

Chennai Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni used his four slow bowlers -- R Ashwin (2/16), Suresh Raina (0/20), Ravindra Jadeja (0/31) and Samuel Badree (0/15) -- for long spells and, as they were getting the turn on JSCA International Stadium, Bangalore struggled to reach 45 for one at the halfway mark.

Opener Chris Gayle, who top-scored for Bangalore with an uncharacteristic 50-ball 46, played and missed several times but to his credit he stayed at the crease.

Bangalore, however, had wickets in their hands so that they can go all out in the last five overs. That was exactly what they did as Bangalore scored 97 runs in 9.5 overs to reach 142 for five from 19.5 overs to win the match and stay afloat for a play-off berth. With today's win, Bangalore jumped to fifth place with 10 points from 11 matches while Chennai, who were virtually through to the play-off stage, remained on second spot with 16 points from 11 games.

The fightback began with Gayle and Virat Kohli (27) stitching 61 runs for the second wicket from 10.4 balls before the Bangalore captain was out in the 15th over. Gayle and de Villiers then decided to have a go at the Chennai bowlers who were getting the odd ball turn. The duo hit some lusty blows to put pressure on the Chennai bowlers.

When Gayle was out, Bangalore needed 29 runs from the last three overs and de Villiers took 15 runs from the 18th over bowled by David Hussey (2/38) to almost settle the issue for his side. Before he was out in the 18th over, de Villiers hit one four and three sixes and took his side to just 14 runs away from victory.

Bangalore needed 10 runs from the final over bowled by Hussey and Yuvraj Singh (13 not out) smashed a six from the first ball before Abu Nechim Ahmed (4 not out) hit a four to win the match,

Motorola Moto E Officially Launched in India; Price, Specification Details

When Motorola launched Moto G in India in February, the company upped the ante for all smartphone makers in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment. It has done the same again with the launch of Moto E. The new smartphone will wage the war for Motorola in the entry-level smartphone segment, with an arsenal that comprises better hardware than rivals, the clean version of Android OS, and a price that will be hard to match.

We played around with Moto E at its global launch event to bring you our first impressions and help you decide whether it is the best smartphone at the killer price of Rs 6,999.

The much anticipated Moto E, the 'Priced for all' smartphone promised by Motorola has been officially launched in India.

The new Motorola budget smartphone flaunts an ergonomic curved design similar to Moto X and features 4.3-inch qHD (960x540p) display with scratch-and-splash resistant Gorilla Glass 3 Protection.

Under the hood, It ships with Android v4.4 KitKat OS, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 dual-core CPU, Adreno 302 graphics engine backed by sumptuous 1GB RAM, 4GB expandable storage (up to 32GB) and also houses a 5.0-megapixel primary camera and 1980 mAh (Li-Ion) battery which can provide power for close to 24 hours under mixed media usage.

By Pricing the phone just under ₹7,000, Motorola has found a winner in Moto E and can expect to shake up the highly competitive budget smartphone business in India, which is dominated by domestic players, like its sibling Moto G did in the mid-range segment.

Motorola Moto E Price & Availability:
Like its Motorola siblings, Moto E will be exclusively sold at Flipkart starting this mid-night (14 May) for just ₹6,999. The e-retailer is also offering 50 percent discount on back-covers (nine colour options) to consumers, if they buy this accessaory along with the phone.

Check out the official video of Moto E detailing features:

The back cover is swappable, but you cannot remove the battery. Though Moto E comes in white and black colours only, Motorola offers back covers and grip shells in as many as nine colours to give users a bit of customization option.

Hardware
This is where things heat up.
Motorola is offering hardware that no other smartphone maker in India offers at this price. Apart from the quality display, you get a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 32GB microSD expansion, 1,980mAh battery and 5MP rear camera.
Connectivity suite of the phone is pretty standard and consists of 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0.

There is no front camera or LED flash in the smartphone.

Moto E uses a Water-Repellent coating inside as well as outside, so that the phone does not get damaged as soon as a little water is splashed on it. However, be warned: don't expect this smartphone to work once you drop it in the water.

The display is also Covered with Gorilla Glass 3 for added protection against scratches.

Software
Moto E comes with Default version of Android 4.4 (KitKat) sans any customized skin. The phone comes with a few Motorola apps pre-loaded, such as Alert and Assist. But the good thing is that there is no bloatware at all and this results in the smartphone being fast and fluid. There is no heavy skin bogging down the speed at which apps are launched and even the most basic functions are performed. This comes as a breath of fresh air for us because we are used to seeing pretty slow 'smart'-phones at the entry-level segment.

Aishwarya Rai Looks Stunning at Ambani's Party, See Pics

Bollywood's who's who were Present at the Party hosted by Neeta and Mukesh Ambani to Celebrate Designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla's 25th year in fashion.

Designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla launched their new book India Fantastique at the party. Amitabh Bachhan along with hosts Nita and Mukesh Ambani unveiled the book.

Aishwarya Rai looked ravishing in a black embroidered dress.

Aishwarya's weight issue

Unlike the other new mommies in Bollywood who flaunted their baby bumps, Aishwarya Rai had cut down drastically on her public appearances when she was pregnant with her (Beti B) Aaradhya.

Though her first official post pregnancy appearance was at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival, Aishwarya was snapped by the media at various other dos and her pictures invited a lot of flak and criticism.

However, she proved them wrong and also silenced her critics by making a dazzling appearance at the red carpet, looking extremely comfortable in her newly acquired curvaceous frame.

Latest jewellery commercial
Aishwarya Recently Shot for a Jewellery Commercial and Looked as Gorgeous as ever.

A Superimposed underwater photography, as it looks like, Aishwarya dazzles in the ad giving the impression that she is floating in golden hued water.

Now that she has started facing camera, let's hope she makes a comeback to Bollywood soon.

This shoot comes almost a year after the last commercial she shot when she was six months pregnant.

4 Things Happen Right Before a Heart Attack

Despite what you may believe, heart attacks rarely happen “out of the blue.”

In fact, your body may be trying to warn you of an impending heart attack for days, weeks, perhaps even a month or two before it occurs. Unfortunately, by the time you actually Recognize you’re suffering a heart attack, it could be too late to prevent Death or debilitating heart damage.

So-Called Silent heart attacks, with signs and symptoms that are mild or seem unrelated to the heart, have long concerned cardiovascular expert Dr. Chauncey Crandall. So Dr. Crandall Recently Created a special free video presentation about the four most Sinister Warning Signs to watch for.

Statistics show a clear link between a delay in heart attack treatment and death or disability. That’s why it’s essential to know exactly what your heart is trying to tell you with warning signs like those discussed in Dr. Crandall’s video.

Although developed as an educational tool, this video rapidly went viral, surpassing 5 million viewers in just a few months.

Newsmax Health Publisher Travis Davis attributes the viral sensation to the fact that the content hits close to home for many Americans, especially because heart disease is America’s #1 killer. In fact, in the U.S. alone, nearly 1 million people suffer their first heart attack each year.

Dr. Crandall, chief of the cardiac transplant program at the renowned Palm Beach Cardiovascular Clinic in Palm Beach, Florida, practices on the front lines of interventional, vascular, and transplant cardiology.

Decades of clinical experience have afforded him the chance to detect little-known warning signs and symptoms like the four he addresses in the video.

Plus, in the video Dr. Crandall also tells the real-life story of one man who suffered a “widow-maker” heart attack after ignoring the warning signs — and almost paid the ultimate price. The story is scary but eye-opening, because Dr. Crandall outlines what could have been done to actually prevent this from progressing to the life-threatening stage.

Dr. Crandall, medical editor of the Newsmax publication Heart Health Report, has a positive message: you don’t have to be a sitting duck for a deadly heart attack. In fact, according to Dr. Crandall, heart disease can be prevented — and even reversed - with the right information and simple lifestyle adjustments.
